Even being greeted with strong winds and heavy and rain (some of the worst I’ve experienced at a wedding for a long time) on the morning of a summer wedding in Greenwich wedding, it still turned out just perfectly!
Starting off at Devonport House for the bridal preparations, I then made quick walk through the rain to the St Alfege Church, where I met with the groom to await the rest of the family and guests arrivals. I have to say, the atmosphere was brilliant; and as family and friends started to arrive, it was clear from their faces and attitude that the weather conditions were not going to spoil anything about this day. I just loved the fact that the overall feeling was that it just didn’t matter that it was raining at all! Brilliant!
After the ceremony and formal photographs it was another quick dash to the church hall for afternoon tea and speeches; and whilst everyone was finishing up, I went onto the Old Royal Naval College to look at options in the rain for the couple portraits. But that’s when it happened… The rain just stopped! Perfect timing to take all the photographs we needed without getting wet; and then straight in for beer tasting and dancing at The Old Brewery!
I guess that’s what’s so exciting about photographing weddings. Working the plan, improvising, adapting and overcoming! Enjoy the preview!
